tim2144

As Amarjeet completes his second term as President of the Malaysia British Society, we take a moment to reflect on a truly remarkable year—one defined by growth, camaraderie, and extraordinary events.

With a flourishing membership and an ever-expanding calendar of distinguished gatherings, 2024 was a testament to the society’s enduring appeal. As we celebrate the successes of the past year, we also extend an invitation to our members to be part of shaping MBS’s future. The past year has seen a remarkable increase in membership, a diverse range of events, and a strengthened sense of community. As we reflect on the achievements of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, we also look ahead to the next chapter—and invite you to be part of shaping the society’s future.

SECOND TERM IN REVIEW: MBS HIGHLIGHTS FROM APRIL 2024 TO MARCH 2025

A Growing Community

The MBS calendar was packed with social and networking opportunities, strengthening old ties and welcoming new faces. From casual mixers to formal engagements, every event played a role in fostering a vibrant and inclusive society.

Hari Raya at RSC Dataran

Our Raya celebration was a warm and lively affair, drawing a wonderful crowd to the RSC Card Room. The presence of numerous distinguished guests, including many members of the royal and business communities, made for a memorable evening of fellowship.

MBS vs. Royal Household Cricket Team – A Match to Remember

Another highlight of the sporting calendar, MBS took to the pitch against the Royal Household Cricket Team at RSC Kiara, delivering a spirited and competitive match. The game was played in great camaraderie, with players from both sides showcasing skill, sportsmanship, and a deep love for the game.

Following the match, members and guests gathered for a celebratory dinner, where lively discussions and laughter filled the air. The event was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen ties between MBS and the Royal Household, reinforcing the society’s commitment to fostering meaningful connections through sport and fellowship.

ABBA Tribute in Support of Charity

MBS was proud to support the Yayasan Tunku Naquiyuddin charity concert at Zepp KL, where ABBA ABBORN delighted the audience, with hit after hit from the Swedish legends. The event raised an impressive sum to support underprivileged children, once again demonstrating the society’s commitment to meaningful causes.

Merdeka Celebration at RSC Dataran

The Merdeka celebration brought together MBS members and esteemed guests in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. With our Royal Patron Tunku Zain and senior members in attendance, the evening was a powerful reminder of our shared history and aspirations for the future.

Charity Golf

The MBS Charity Golf Invitational on 20 September at Staffield Golf Club was a fantastic day of friendly competition and fundraising. Despite the heat, spirits remained high, and the event successfully raised funds for MBS-supported causes.

Pool Night

Later in the month, the MBS Pool Evening at Backyard brought together a strong turnout, proving that a little friendly rivalry over the table can make for a fantastic evening. The enthusiasm and participation from members made this one of the most successful social gatherings of the year.

The Launch of the MBS Privileges Card

MBS introduced an exciting new benefit: the MBS Privileges Card, offering members exclusive discounts and access to premium experiences. This initiative was met with great enthusiasm and will continue to enhance the MBS experience in the coming year.

A Grand Welcome for BMS Members

On 20 November, MBS had the pleasure of hosting the British Malaysian Society (BMS) Welcome Dinner at RSC Kiara. This event saw the coming together of our two societies, strengthening international connections and fostering meaningful exchanges between members from both organisations.

Deepavali at the Royal Selangor Club

Deepavali was celebrated in true MBS style, with colour, music, and camaraderie filling the evening. Held once again at the Royal Selangor Club, the event brought together members from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the Festival of Lights.

A Christmas to Remember – RM30,000 Raised for Charity

The MBS Charity Christmas Party at KLGCC was the perfect way to end the year. With a mix of delicious festive fayre, entertainment, and an exciting auction, the night successfully raised RM30,000 for our three chosen charities: My Shining Star Foundation, IDEAS Autism Centres, and Sport Excel

It was an evening that not only celebrated the festive season but also reinforced MBS’s dedication to giving back to the community.

We also hosted a variety of other exciting events throughout the year, including the inaugural MBS motorbike ride to Ulu Yam, an exclusive trip to the Sultan of Selangor's private car collection and a tour of the palace, and bi-monthly members' minglings at Sid's and W1, fostering camaraderie among our growing membership.

MBS was proud to participate in the KL Highland Games, where we had our first-ever pavilion and an enthusiastic Tug o' War team, demonstrating our competitive spirit. Additionally, we attended the British event at the British International School, further strengthening our ties with the community.

A special thank you goes to our generous sponsors, particularly Melbourne Capital Group, whose continuous support has played a crucial role in helping us raise significant funds for our charities and making these events a reality.

2025: LOOKING AHEAD

With President Amarjeet’s term drawing to a close, MBS is poised for a seamless transition into an exciting new chapter. Membership continues to grow, and with it, new initiatives are set to be introduced.

Introducing MBS Talks: A New Intellectual Experience

In 2025, MBS will launch MBS Talks, a series of intimate, high-end dinner gatherings where prominent members will share their expertise in a quiet and engaging setting. The first speaker we've asked to talk will be none other than Dato' Richard Curtis, who will offer exclusive insights into his experiences, including the recent MBS visit to the Sultan of Selangor’s car collection in January 2025.

JOIN THE 2025–2026 COMMITTEE: HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF MBS

As MBS embarks on another year of growth and innovation, we invite you to take an active role in the society’s direction. Whether your passion lies in event planning, networking, philanthropy, or introducing new ideas, there is a place for you in the 2025–2026 committee.

From cultural celebrations to charitable initiatives, 2024 was a year of milestones for MBS. As we step into 2025, we look forward to even greater opportunities, deeper connections, and an ever-growing community. Here’s to another remarkable year ahead!
